First of all, our apologies to all who found our blog while we were still working on it. Our face is red, as we weren’t quite ready for anyone to see it…but it is nice to know that you ran across it. HOW CAN COMING HERE TO GET COUPONS HELPSVETERANS AND MILITARY PERSONNEL?- A little background…Oklahoma American Veterans News(OAVN) has given ongoing support to Veterans and their families for over 20 years, by providing for a Veterans “greatest need”.
OAVN has always worked on a shoestring to stretch every penny, as far as possible to help our service people. No OAVN officer receives any salary and they, along with other volunteers, sometimes must pay for things out of their own pocket into order to keep the group going.
HOW UNEXPIRED COUPONS HELP VETERANS AN MILITARY PERSONNEL-
Earlier this year, OAVN began the Feeding Hungry little Tummies project. As expired coupons began coming in some included current coupons they did not need.
OAVN has received numerous requests for help during the past few months which meant that not all requests could be granted. The suggestion was made that those unexpired coupons be used in whatever way possible, to help with other projects that would benefit our military. It is hard for us to ask for help with our projects so we thought the idea to try to use the unexpired coupons, in some way, was a brilliant idea!

Some of our supporters sent unexpired coupons and requested that we use them to help Veterans living here in the US. Current coupons have been used to purchase personal care items such as shampoo, shaving items and “body wash” for use by nurses aids, when bathing hospitalized Veterans.
Our volunteers stretch every penny by watching sales and now using coupons to go with the sales ensures we get the best deals possible.
Coupons were used to provide discounts on some of the stocking stuffer gifts for Dot’s Christmas Store! (Dot’s Christmas Store provides gifts to hospitalized Veterans who can’t get out of bed to shop for loved ones. This takes stress off of these deserving men and women when they know they have a gift to give.)
This year our Executive Director, who is also a volunteer, worked a deal to get one hundred and eighty (180) name brand sweat suits, at two dollars below cost, along with grip socks. Using coupons to discount other items we buy for Veterans freed up money to spend on Veterans Christmas gifts.
